When I caught that first glimpse of her, she had that excited look in her eyes, excited that someone was looking at her, someone was interested in her. We'd been looking for the right dog for a long time, at last we had found the kind of dog we had been looking for. "Mommy? Are we going to get her?" I asked. "Possibly, but we'll see." She said. That very day we called my brother and dad to describe her to them, to persuade them that she was the right dog, after my dad had a look at her, he was convinced that we should get her. "Yay!" I was so excited to finally have a dog. With much training, we ended up with a beautiful golden retriever dog, who has been the best dog I have ever had.
One day, when the sun was just getting ready to go down, there were some coyotes that were out in our neighbor's field. Daisy perked her ears up, cocked her head, (the coyotes started howling in the woods and fields all around.) Then she ran as fast as her legs could manage, under the barb wire fence, leaving a prize (a glob of hair) behind and into the field she went. "Daisy! Daisy! Come home!" She didn't even turn around to look, she just kept running. It was like her ears were closed. She was not obeying her masters. Course she never did catch up with the coyotes, but she came back all wet and tired. "Daisy! You've been a bad dog, now, you know where to go!" The sad look on her eyes came, when I said those words to her, it was almost looked like she was saying, I'm sorry master, Katherina, I really am... She went where she knows, she goes when shes been a bad dog, right in the "jail" (kennel) for an hour or so.
That reminds me of how we are sometimes, with God and even our parents. When our beloved Master is calling us, we don't answer. Instead, we run into the dark woods of sin and try to hide like Adam and Eve did. But we cannot hide, Jesus sees our every action. He's still there when we run into the woods of sin, He's still there waiting for us to come back to Him, to let Him come into our hearts and lives. When we come back to Him, aren't we like Daisy? We are sad and asking Jesus to forgive us, we are at last, tired of running in those deep, dark woods of sin, at last we are ready for sweet, sweet rest. It's like Daisy, when shes in those woods, I wouldn't doubt she looks out of the woods and asks her self, should I or shouldn't I go back home...
Lets go home to Jesus now, lets us follow Him today.
